1987 Cadillac Brougham

3-owner - 105,500 Gentle Miles
Excellent Maintenance - 5 Litre V-8

Willed to me five years ago by my deceased aunt, age 93, who owned
the vehicle in northeast Arkansas and put the first 99,000 miles on it.
Always kept under covered parking (not garage).
Cherry Red leather interior, red carpet, power everything - a piece of luxury history.

It's a "three-owner" vehicle because I sold it recently to an acquaintance, with a
buy-back option... and bought it back - so the title had been transferred.  He
put less than 1000 miles on the car in four months.

What is POSITIVE about this car?

Modest Mileage for its age.
Clean, excellent running engine, very clean interior.
Paint in very good condition.
5 new tires - four with 4000 ground miles and an unused full-size spare
on a new rim in trunk along with factory donut - never seen the road.
New headliner 4 years ago.
Completely new exhaust system 4 years ago.
New Alternator 3 years ago.
New heater core 3 years ago.
New brakes with only 3500 mostly over-the-road miles.
Relatively new battery - new wipers - A/C charged recently.
Completed state safety & emissions inspection in Dallas County, 08-10.
Dash has had a custom carpet cover since new, so it's in excellent condition - no cracks, no fading.
It's near classic and in two more years becomes exempt from emissions checks.
It would require very little to fully restore... and basically, it's a cool ride.

I essentially have not driven this car to speak of, in the 5 years I've had it.

What is NEGATIVE about this car?

It needs a new vinyl roof...
It's peeling at the lower body near the trunk and has many small cracks on top.
The drivers seat has some small splits in the leather.
One piece of plastic trim on the interior of the driver's side door is broken.
Sometimes (not often) it takes the electronic climate control a minute to turn on the A/C.
The right rear lamp assembly on the trunk side, has a small ding in it.
The rubber mat below the license plate is missing pieces.
One of the vanity light switches was broken by the nuts who put in the new headliner.
The wire wheel covers have some dings and dents.
The cruise control does not work.
It is not fuel injected.

By far, the worst issue is visual.... the rubber 'boots' (compression joints) between the
rear lamp assemblies and the rear quarter panels have become brittle, and the left
side has badly crumbled - see bottom photos.  All of the plastic body pieces in
similar areas are in need of replacement.

(added 08-05-10) I have located at least two on-line sources for replacement fillers for all of these
plastic quarter panel inserts... both sources sell them, unpainted, for $148 for the pair, and offer
discounts on purchasing the full plastic parts replacement package.
